Poster and lineup for Dreams festival at Yerberia Cultura during spring break. Local and out-of-town acts performing. Catch me there lol I hate how the few Fests, Fiestas and Fairs we do have are all smooshed into Spring. What about the rest of the year? Not much.

Trust me, I get annoyed by it also, but I understand. Unless it's country or Tejano, I think many promoters down here don't see it viable to host a fest with other music genres outside of Spring Break, when there's a much bigger influx of people who prefer other genres (heck even during Spring Break, NSN was cancelled a few years ago and UME got downgraded to 2 days at Claytons). There is another small fest that happens in the summer (Galax Z Fair) but other than that and a few others, I just don't see it happening yet. Unfortunate

South Texas Comic Con looks impressive this year, (plus that Hodor after-party, and I don't even watch Game of Thrones)! www.southtexascomiccon.com/

I don't know if y'all have heard of this yet, but there's a festival that's happening in McAllen in November called Catrina. I'm volunteering for it and I was told by other people that are working the event that if this inaugural edition is successful, that future editions would expand the music genres and turn it from a single day, to a 2-day fest. www.facebook.com/CatrinaMusicFest/

The festival they had last month was hugely successful - MXLAN - it was really packed all three days! This one sounds interesting but the tickets are expensive! Why? This isn't ACL? I've never heard of those bands either... but I'm old. So i'm sure i'm not their demographic. Looks cool!

But overall it seemed that it was attended well. They're targeting people from Mexico moreso for this festival but apparently it has sold decently well so far. Their target attendance is around 40K people. It is supposed to be richly themed around Dia de los Muertos. Hoping it does well as I would love to see a musically diversified version of this fest happen in the future.

I can't get over the price though... but i guess if I knew and liked those bands, it would be a steal.
