Well, looks like the LA article was incorrect: linkPer Musk "The source info is incorrect. Starship & Raptor development is being done out of our HQ in Hawthorne, CA. We are building the Starship prototypes locally at our launch site in Texas, as their size makes them very difficult to transport." So, only the prototypes to be built at BC. Well there goes all that excitement out the window... womp womp. What do you mean, BC is the ONLY place on Earth where the Starship hopper is being assembled and tested Lots of excitement in this area. Maybe Elon will change his mind and bring the manufacturing over. Can't imagine why not with the port of Brownsville nearby and maybe a steel foundry.

There's a HUGE difference between what was incorrectly reported and what is actually being done at Boca Chica Beach. Yes, it's still good but not as awesomely fantastic as having all those high paying jobs move to Brownsville from California, all those new buildings to support the jobs, all the new housing that would have developed along with retail, etc.

As seen on other forum - "I’ve seen posts from Europeans claiming they’re bringing their whole family down to BC to watch a test flight, most likely staying on SPI or maybe an AIRBNB in Brownsville."
"I scrolled through a SpaceX post on Reddit yesterday and several users asked how close South Padre Island was to the launch site. One user is planning a family vacation this summer to see the rocket launches. "
Seriously? It's not like these are the first ever rocket ship launches anywhere in the world from the beginning of time. There are rocket launches every year all over the world. What makes SpaceX so special that people will spend thousands upon thousands to come to Boca Chica Beach to see? Serious question!?!?
Sure Brownsville is going to gain some jobs and a few buildings but it's probably going to be more bragging rights and a market tool than anything else for Brownsville. The area around Cape Canaveral is sparse, to say the least. No extra hotels or tourism. It's just a little town on the beach. It's not going to bring in this big explosion of people and jobs and tourists and buildings. Tourism in Florida isn't the Space Coast, it's Orlando - Disney, Sea World, Universal Studios. That's why people go to Florida. Sure, some people go see a launch or two but its not the 1970s. People aren't transfixed by rockets or space travel anymore.
People will and do come in for SPI and if they happen to be here on a day there's a launch, sure, i can see people going to see it... but to say that people from Europe are coming in to see a test flight and by the way will stay at SPI or an AIRBnB? That's delusional.
Hey I know.. let's try to get Trump's SPACE FORCE to setup shop in Brownsville too!

Honestly I think the very first launch will be super packed. But just like popeyes and crispy creme the hype is gonna drop quick.

God I thought this was hilarious when I read it (Way off track here but while I try to not state anything of personal opinion when it comes to how I think of the members of either board, god that JP dude from the other board sounds so annoying and seems to be way too much of an optimist to the reality of Brownsville and the rest of the RGV.)
