Yea but sometime last year San benito announced they were building a fairfield inn but then all of a sudden it fell through. Not even a month after that Harlingen announced they were building a fairfield inn.

Found that Harlingen is getting a Homewood suites. 4 story Interior 89 rooms Approval date- 25-Aug-14 Projected start- 25-Apr-18 Projected opening- 25-Jul-19
After the 3 edinburg hotels that looks to be the last hilton brand hotel on the list for the valley. Minion you're probably right about them waiting for the market to recover. 5 years since approval is weird.

Nothing to do there but go to South Padre Island or go to McAllen for shopping. lol

"A lot of these hotel guys think that this is the right market for them to be in. It is close to Brownsville, close to the launch site, close to the airport" So why don't they just build in Brownsville lol. I still don't see how this is going to be a major tourist draw for hotels. Yea a lot of valley people are going to see the launches since they're close by but nobody from central and north texas is going to drive all the way down here to see something that's going to take like 10 minuets. Then you have the mexicans that are already in hotels here to shop, so now you need even more mexicans to come over here to see the launches that would only happen 1 day out of the month.

I agree with both of you. Hotels should be in Brownsville if that's what they're aiming for. Have you looked up the google map of the areas around Kennedy Space Center in Florida? NOT MUCH DEVELOPMENT there. Hotels in nearby Titusville are 1, 2 or 3 star hotels and all under $80. Titusville - under 50,000 people. Unless they're taking credit for Orlando development (instead of Mickey!), SpaceX is just going to be here to screw with the environment along with LNG pipelines and offer up a few jobs. I don't think SpaceX in Cameron County is going to be much of a draw for people here.
