City of Brownsville is officially seeking a commercial spaceport declaration for their city airport. (fb link: BRO airport) They want to get in on the SpaceX launch action? Can they do that? FAA will be all over them if they do.

FAA will be all over them if they do. They can definitely do that. It ain't the first airport to obtain an FAA spaceport designation, Midland's airport is also an FAA designated spaceport ( Midland Air & Space Port).

The announcement will be made at the Brownsville-South Padre Island International Airport. The company specializes in vertical take-offs and landings. The company is bringing cutting edge technology that will help the environment, improve public safety, and create jobs in Brownsville, city officials stated in a press release. Some people are saying only 145"s fly into Brownsville and as for more destinations and airline, they are coming in the fall. About 5 new destination and two new airlines.
