Saw on FB, don't know if it's true, that Chick Fil A and Blue Wave Car Wash are joining the upcoming Texas National Bank on the NE corner of I-2 and I-Road (Veterans) on the San Juan side.
We've known about TNB for awhile but the others? This is over by the new Lexus car lot.
Anyone heard about this?

It wouldn't surprise me if Chick Fil A was across the street by the HEB, they have pad sites to the east on their land... but not on the north side? Unless something big is coming behind that area. There's a lot of acreage there.

SOUTH POINT PLAZA - WESLACO The Developer posted this yesterday.... "We are happy to announce that we have broken ground for South Point Plaza coming soon to Weslaco. Located on Westgate Dr. & Expressway 83. Like our page to be the first to hear about the restaurants, entertainment venues & shoppes that will be located at this gorgeous Plaza. More exciting news coming soon!"

Personally feel like they're gonna try and target the workers in the plaza next door and maybe even the PlainsCapital Bank and the future Valley Baptist Micro Hospital that is opening near it also in the future (in addition to other like the nearby STC and high school workers and students). It's just any other plaza though so eh (maybe it will bring something new to the town who knows).

I was trying to picture where this was and figured it was NW Corner but there's already a strip center there. So this is on the south side of the expressway between Westgate and Texas? Make sense! LOL

I just saw that too! While that would be GREAT, I wouldn't hold my breath if they are planning on putting either of those at that location. Maybe if they put it at the old convention center site since it's been sitting empty for what, like 3 years already? 1. That old ToysRus is too small for an IKEA. 2. A Whole Foods would be great but that is not a good location for a grocery store with all that traffic.

IKEA has literally canceled plans for stores in much larger, wealthier markets as you have ceased building brick and mortar stores in favor or increasing their online sells.
It’s obvious this is the city wanting something that the developers can’t get.

But canceled all stores after the San Antonio store. Just go look it up. They are not expanding for the foreseeable future and IF they were the Calley would not be a candidate. It meets NONE of their criteria. It doesn’t have the population or the income that IKEA needs in order to even inquire on said market.
