Construction of Hampton Inn’s newest location in the area has begun at 1004 Fairfield Blvd. in Weslaco with expected completion in September 2019. The hotel chain will create between 10 to 15 more full-time jobs in Weslaco. Birju Patel, franchise owner, says that Weslaco’s centralized location in the region, along with its stable economy and strategic growth, were determining factors to the decision to come to Weslaco. valleybusinessreport.com/news/weslaco-hampton-inn-breaks-ground/

I had found the construction/building license for it about a year or so back, but it was listed for it to have been built from 2015 to 2017 I believe. I thought they had cancelled it, but looks like it went through after all after a delay. Nice to see my hometown grow more and more by the day.

Thought it'd be wise to leave it here in the only Weslaco hotel thread (mainly because I do not want to start another thread). The former Palm Aire hotel in Weslaco has been demolished and will be replaced by a new commercial area that will include a new 4-story hotel. riograndeguardian.com/five-commercial-sites-being-developed-along-expressway-83-in-weslaco/"He said that if traveling east to west motorists can see the demolition of the Palm Aire Hotel. What used to be a 175-room hotel, fitness center, dance hall, swimming pool and tennis courts will be demolished, Valdez explained, and replaced with an anchor restaurant, strip mall and 120 room, four story hotel and event center."

Very cool. I was glad that didn't become the BP Detention Center a few years ago. It needed to be redone either way.
