VIA is good at getting the airlines in - paying them off, discounts, freebies, etc..... - but they can't seem to keep them.

For those of you who are looking for updated numbers including June, they're not up yet. I had reposted May numbers a few minutes ago because the numbers are different from the previously released May numbers. Don't know or understand why they would be different. So I just deleted them. *FYI, the MFE numbers did not change on their site, just VIA.

Southwest increased capacity at HRL by over 80% for those months, with about 3 more flights daily and four more flights for this summer with DAL nonstops. Vivaaerobus already checked out by Semana Santa with most of that month's flights being canceled. I know, I checked practically every day then. HRL hadn't surpassed MFE in enplanements since probably shortly after 9/11. I'd have to check. But since 2016, HRL has grown, slowed by the 737 Max 8 fiasco, Hurricane Harvey, and the pandemic of which saw WN cut back greatly while MFE for the most part kept its capacity up with AA and UA. I recall every year on the other forum people crowing about how VIA beat MFE every spring. Then nothing the months afterwards. Could have sworn that's what would happen annually. Here ya go, dismissed me earlier. riograndeguardian.com/podcast-via-is-proving-a-great-competitor-to-mcallen-airport/

Who dismissed you earlier? I pretty much said above that historically, VIA "wins" spring break, with MFE taking the rest of the year. What's still left to see is if these little bumps VIA gets from these seasonal or temporary or trying out VIA for the incentives Airlines stick around and continue to do business at VIA. Especially with all the personnel problems airlines are having lately. Looks like BRO is never going to be a worthy competitor for VIA even with a new terminal.

Also to add, HRL seems to have lost Frontier with all its seasonal service.

I was expecting higher turnout for MFE, since after all does services the whole Hidalgo county of 900k population... compared to Cameron county with half the population of 450k and a two airport convenience... VIA can market for the whole valley , as for BRO/SPI it only services that area market..
