I was expecting higher turnout for MFE, since after all does services the whole Hidalgo county of 900k population... compared to Cameron county with half the population of 450k and a two airport convenience... VIA can market for the whole valley , as for BRO/SPI it only services that area market.. VIA doesn't market to the whole valley though. They pretty much share the same destinations with MFE. For the most part. I've never seen a VIA ad or commercial in McAllen. As far as your question, MFE has business travelers for the Maquiladoras /Industrial Parks in Pharr, McAllen and Mission and of course, Reynosa. Not many tourists here except the mexican national shoppers, most of which, drive here from Monterrey. Those don't number as high as the casual vacation bound tourists South Padre Island has from up north.... yet, McAllen's Airport has historically won the race without having to constantly bring in fly by night, here today, gone tomorrow airlines and throw incentives at them to come, stay or extend their stays. Meh.

Meh. Actually no, back in the day, HRL was clearly ahead of the pack up to after 2000 sometime. HRL always had Southwest and American and then got Continental. McAllen in the 80s had just Continental then got American around late 90s or so. It has taken awhile for HRL to catch back up and at times fell way behind mostly because Southwest cut back a lot.

😴 still the #s don't add up if you do the math ... double the population n every one in their mother flys from ONE congested airport in Hidalgo... if Cameron county had one airport.. it would capture 55% of the market. Hmmmm?? With Southwest and Sun Country (MSP) HRL has regional reach cause they don't fly to any other airport in the valley. I'll give you F4 for LAS, but other than that MFE just flies Hidalgo County residents because HRL and BRO both have AA and UA.

Hmmmm?? You're comparing apples and oranges. Each airport caters to a different clientele (for incoming). Business vs. Vacation travelers.

Why are you comparing this with that .. business vs leisure..or apples n oranges.. NUMBERS are what you are bragging about... NUMBERS regardless of what it is... like those illegals boarding from McAllen, weslaco, Edinburgh private airports count too right?.... the NUMBERS You're not very bright are you. The majority of the incoming travelers are not from here. Business vs. Leisure. You can't compare a single business traveler to a FAMILY. Want to talk numbers? Why is your Harlingen #6, SIX, in population NUMBERS in the RGV?

NUMBERS regardless of what it is... like those illegals boarding from McAllen, weslaco, Edinburgh private airports count too right?.... the NUMBERS Every one of those people entered the US in a legal manner according to US Citizenship & Immigration Services. Furthermore they have been processed, documented, and given legal permission to go further into the US; that makes them all LEGAL.
