AUSTIN – Orchard, a national real estate brokerage, has named Edinburg the number one "under-the-radar" city in Texas. The border city received top marks due to its affordable housing with a median home price of $217,433, or $117 per sf. It also has a 3.25 public school rating. Two other border cities—Mission and Laredo—ranked second and third. Orchard cites the border's inexpensive housing and relatively good schools as reasons for the area's high rankings. No. 8 McAllen, No. 9 Brownsville, and No. 10 El Paso were the other border cities in the top 15. The Houston metro also had several cities on the rankings, including No. 4 Pearland, No. 6 Conroe, No. 11 Sugar Land, and No. 13 League City. The rest of the top 15 include No. 5 College Station, No. 7 New Braunfels, No. 12 Longview, No. 14 Wichita Falls, and No. 15 Corpus Christi. Orchard considers under-the-radar cities as areas with a high quality of life, less competitive home-buying market, and relatively low home prices. www.recenter.tamu.edu/news/newstalk-texas/?Item=26116

Everywhere you look, new subdivisions are filling up as fast as they're building them.

Everywhere you look, new subdivisions are filling up as fast as they're building them. This is true but have you seen the prices for just the lots alone? Over $75,000 for a measly lot! I saw a new lot off McColl/Canton at A pre-development price of $450,000k! NO HOUSE!

Edinburg is not land-locked to the north. it can and will grow all the way to San Manuel in our lifetime. lol
i just went to check out a friend's new house she down-sized to from Sharyland to past 2812/Cibolo road off 281 area in Edinburg and was amazed at all the growth in homes out there. These people need stores and entertainment to come to their area sooner rather than later. They've had to survive off Dollar General and Tractor Supply all these years? Come on La Sienna, what's the hold up??
