I’m not trying to be an a** but Y’all shouldn’t get all worked up about this. Again, y’all have your assets and Cameron county has theirs - we jus have assets that can’t be duplicated anywhere in your county, like SPI, SpaceX, the Gulf of Mexico, the Laguna Madre, the Port of Brownsville, Quality of life outdoor activities, etc., but we can always build a Macy’s, we can always build an arena, we can always build a Five Guys, we can always build a Costco, we can always build a Sprouts, and every other single brick and mortar restaurant, retail, and entertainment option currently in Hidalgo County - it’s just reality. Thing is, buddy, you CAN'T.

NOTHING going on at Mierda - after how many years already? Rumors of Costco & Macy's for over a decade. You all just got Olive Garden - we've had since the 80s... and have 4 of them (including San Juan lol). Again, I hate to be the one to tell you but there’s nothing special or unique about having 4 Olive Gardens in your county, you DO understand that don’t you? I see why you did with the Madeira name, not bad. LOL that was unintentional. Too funny. Madeira. MADEIRA. MaDeIrA. My point about the four Olive Gardens is that you can say they can just BUILD them, while we can't build our own SPI, the fact is the powers that be don't see a need for CC to have a Costco, Pappadeaux, Macy's, kick A** mall, etc. At least not yet. It took decades for them to see our old Olive Garden being packed daily before they added another and another...

Zackly!! These nacos dont get it... or do the math.. i rather hve two airports in our county than one ... but Hidalgo wont let EDINBURG or weslaco open up passenger flights out of those airports... will ruin their #1 cowboy/vaqueros airport.. We have 3.

Excited? I'm just posting facts. "You're just getting excited about people who go to HAR or BRO to LEAVE your cities and spend money elsewhere" With that logic even more people are leaving Hidalgo county via MFE to "spend money elsewhere" Granola. The only reason MFE is #1 and HRL is #2 is because of BRO. If BRO was to shutter operations tomorrow, that 15% market share that BRO has would go straight to HRL - NOT MFE. "That's ok. A lot of shoppers from Cameron County come spend their money to Hidalgo County to the tune of millions more than in CC" - And not only do Hidalgo County peeps flock to our coastline every weekend 10 months out of the year, and every holiday, and every special occasion, they own 2nd homes on SPI paying property taxes to Cameron County. And if they DON'T own a 2nd home, they're willing to drop thousands of dollars on rentals, and even more one food and entertainment multiple times a year while they're enjoying their stay in Cameron County.
And yet, you're dying inside because CC will never measure up with HC. POPULATION. Retail. Entertainment options. Restaurants. Schools. University. Colleges. Airports. Dying inside? I’m really not Granola. We don’t want the population and the traffic that comes with it. And I have no doubt that the entertainment, dining, and retail options are coming. That Costco rumor only started last year when a current Brownsville city commissioner claimed on Facebook that the city is already in negotiations with Costco. And that rumored Macy’s maybe 5-6 years tops, and only because it was proposed for the uptown Brownsville project.

As soon as the Pharr Costco was rumored, CC said they were getting one too. It's been open 12 years already. As far as Macy's, ya'll wanted a Foley's way back in the day too.

And this forum saying Main Event was the better option but your people wanted DB instead. Don't think anyone said it wouldn't happen over there.
