Yeah that tax $ is currently being collected by the State, and GBIC and BCIC can’t access that.

So you saying its ok for McAllen to do it but not BRO??? ETJ was and is within BRO jurisdiction..most of it is unincorporate land... you may hve disputes when a city annexes an area where there is more population... the would hve to render city services... such is the case in Cameron park..population close to 5k... but city will not annex because of lack of services.. it would cost the city more in providing all utilities n roads.. thats a reason why BRO doesn't want any poverty low income colonias popping up everywhere.. I never said it was ok for McAllen to do it. and no, McAllen didn't do it too. The strip heading north on the map above are parcels of land, not a few feet on either side of a roadway. i was talking about the law going back and forth several years ago about it. Not just specific to Brownsville. Even San Juan tried to strip annex roadways to keep Pharr out of the south side that was up for grabs. their official city maps still show the strip annexed land and Pharr's ETJ shows all the way to Donna's international bridge, including San Juan's property. There were many lawsuits back and forth about it. View AttachmentView AttachmentAll the cities are trying to “one up” each other but let’s all merge our EDCs 😂😂😂😂😂

Sarcasm... i like it..BRO went through all the infighting with our city commission.. and it was just us ( remember being mocked for all that clown circus act. But im glad BRO got their shit together and fixed it)and a couple of surrounding cities.. HC has several dominant cities that want to hve control of their jurisdiction...weslaco and progreso bridge, pharr n reynosa, mission a anzalduas brige, McAllen/ hidalgo n reynosa bridge... that's alot to settle with and come to an agreement.

🤔 I was reading the Heralds article on the possible dissolvement of both EDCs .. so, its not gonna be running at a city level but at a "MUNICIPAL" jurisdiction... does that mean it would run as a different taxable entity.. and if it mergers with other entities at city level EDCs and collects taxes on them too??? So if it were to "merge" it would be at a "regional" taxing DISTRICT ... say Hidalgo?? 😏 would BRO COLLECT taxes on others ETJs??? Like Mr. Spammy had suggested... or it just totally no cant do merger regionally.. cuz i would rather just each hve a collective tax in their own jurisdiction and spend it as they see fix...but why would only one city be assigned to a certain geographical region like Spammy wants.
