Oh yea an R2 University is such a glorified community college. I like how you also use really outdated numbers. You're right. My apologies. Per UTRGV, the 4-year graduation rate is actually 29%, not 34%. Further, average SAT score of UTRGV students is low: 1030. Not the cream of the crop. This is per UTRGV. Also per UTRGV, students transferring to UTRGV from other schools must have a minimum 2.0 GPA. Dim bulbs. And you still used numbers that don't match. The 34% 6 year graduation rate (which every school uses) you originally used was from 5 years ago. Its been increasing and in 2022 it went up to 53%. Utep 36%, Utsa 45%, Texas tech 60%. No one calls them community colleges.

It may be silly to you cc people but MFE is still beating VIA in numbers Not to mention Retail and restaurant numbers, $, etc Uhm if Hidalgo county has twice the population that Cameron County does, how are we supposed to compete with those numbers? It is even a fair comparison/competition? If we go by your logic, let's compare ALL of Hidalgo County to San Antonio by itself........ San Antonio is "beating" ALL of Hidalgo County (all cities combined) in retail, restaurant numbers, $, etc. How can you compare a county with 900k+ against a neighboring county with 1/2 the population, knowing damn well that Cameron County residents account for a significant portion of those "retail, restaurant numbers, $, etc. that Hidalgo County gets to boast about.

As you know, only a fraction of residents use the airports. Cameron competes with tourists to SPI, and apparently, now, Space X too, from all over for their flights that benefits it's economy. Yes, including Hidalgo County peeps.

It goes both ways. Hidalgo people go to Brownsville and SPI too. No one goes to Harlingen if they don't have to. lol

Use your logic - why is VIA beating BRO with barely a 1/3 of Brownsville's population?

For the same reason more people fly in/out of the two regional eco-tourism airports in Cameron County vs. the sole regional airport in Hidalgo County, and Cameron County has 1/2 the population y’all do……. Y’all should be getting all the enplanements.
And if you haven’t noticed, BRO is THE reason and the ONLY reason VIA/HRL is not the unanimous #1 airport in the RGV.

Even with the antique BRO airport, VIA couldn't pull those people into Harlingen. VIA hasn't been the #1 airport in decades.
