Ok... been up all night n you're right McAllen is the mid valley when you encompass Roma/RGC into the valley... which Starr county nor Willacy are in the RGV MPO... so if thats the case then RGC is dead last with 0 enplanements..McAllen airport now serves ALL OF HIDALGO N STARR county for passenger flights.. Hmmmm n yet you wonder with surprise why Middle valley airport is the slightly #1 in passenger enplanements.. don't be stupid n play coy ok... cuz as of today... RGC is a dead last on everything... commercial/retail , entertainment, leisure, health care, etc, etc ,etc... ok .. so now you can leave BRO/ SPI alone and back off a give us a break.. which i could take in our leisurely choice of beaches...🌅🚣♂️⛵🚀⛱

Hidalgo County passenger count for 2022 - 447,693 Cameron County passenger count for 2022 - 555,025 It's not even close.......why? Y'all should be dominating the airline industry like y'all dominate everything else in the RGV, right? You can't really be that dense. CC has SPI's and now Space X's tourism. HC does not. I’m using the same point you’re using - larger population vs. smaller population, but then you say it’s not fair because we have SpaceX and SPI - but, but, but, remember……. y’all have the counter balance of retail, restaurant, and entertainment options………AND the population on top of that, remember? Is that not enough to draw in tourists of your own? Is Top Golf, La Plaza Mall, Dave & Busters, the McAllen Convention Center complex, UTRGV sporting events and the Rio Grande Valley Premium Outlets, Bert Ogden/Payne arena not enough? No, because those options only draw in the regional population, including Cameron County residents. The domestic and international tourists with $$$ traveling to the RGV to visit SpaceX are not going to be impressed with La Plaza Mall - they can get that back at home and then some, especially if they come from large, wealthy metropolitan areas with real power centers/mixed-use developments like the Domain. Why are so many Hidalgo County residents flying out of VIA and propping up their numbers? MFE should not hold a minuscule 1% - 2% edge over HRL, they should be blowing them out of the water. BRO as well, the airport is called Brownsville South Padre Island International airport, it SHOULD be the gateway to SPI but it’s currently not. Residents from Brownsville, McAllen, Edinburg, Mission, Pharr, Weslaco, are ALL flying out of VIA/HRL via Southwest. The airport in Harlingen is called Valley International Airport, not Harlingen International Airport. It’s intellectually dishonest to compare BRO to HRL especially when BRO was out of the game for a long time, and in that time VIA has entrenched itself as not only the Valley’s airport, but SPI’s airport as well, especially after Southwest made HRL (and not MFE) a hub. BRO has a lot of catching up to do, and it’s going to take some time for the marketing to work, but it will.

That's exactly my point... HIDALGO county is basing themselves as a "SHOPPING AND DINING DESTINATION EXPERIENCE " when tourists can get that in any city... even a small town with the best cuisine will draw ppl to explore that option... for yrs MFE advertised their airport as world wide travel experience appealing to working travelers... Cameron county appealed to the more leisure traffic travelers.. MFE now changed their ads ABOVE.BEYOND... really??🙄 ohhh believe me.. Brownsville is catching up and fast.. but glad that VIA is here to help with all the leisure and wintering and spring breaker Texans..cuz thats their target traveler that VIA is after now... with their seasonal flights from DELTA AND SUNCOLONY...OCT -MARCH even up to April. Brownsville is getting all if not most of whatever restaurant and shopping of what McAllen has... we will catch up soon enough... and hopefully get an entertainment arena ..👍

Ohhh and another source of tourism is in the works at SPI with a cruise shipline or maybe two to dock in our very own coastline. Something Hidalgo will NRV have nor a seaport.. imagine the tourist $ coming to visit our beaches, SpaceX, our historic areas.. way more options to do other than shop n eat..🤷♂️

To be clear, I’m glad Hidalgo County//RGV has these retail, restaurant and entertainment options (with more coming) but the domestic and international tourists visiting for SpaceX and/or SPI are not going to be compelled to make that 3-hour round trip drive all the way to Hidalgo County to shop at a retail establishment they have back home, eat at a restaurant they have back home, or spend time at a local Top Golf, Dave & Busters, or Main Even when they have that back home as well.
The travelers visiting Hidalgo County though for both business and leisure travel (including UTRGV WAC football games/sporting events) will more than likely be willing to make that 3-hour round-trip drive to Cameron County to cross the Queen Isabella causeway and eat fresh Gulf-caught seafood at any one of the restaurants on SPI, OR drive to Brownsville to experience something you can’t get anywhere else in the entire world except for Cameron County, Texas - SpaceX/Satrbase.

United's HRL-ORD route has been extended through April. The original schedule was for March only. So United has doubled the length of their inaugural HRL-ORD season.
